New York Stock Exchange extends trading hours

• NYSE extended trading hours for 25 stocks and 5 ETFs starting Monday • New sessions run 7:30-9:25 a.m. and 4-4:15 p.m. EDT • Equities extended hours expansion planned for December The New York Stock Exchange began extending trading hours on Monday for heavily traded stocks and ETFs. Two new sessions now run from 7:30 a.m. to 9:25 a.m. EDT and from 4 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. EDT, covering 25 single stocks and five ETFs, including Nvidia, Alphabet, Amazon, Oracle and Bank of America. NYSE Chief Product Officer Kevin Tyrrell said the move reflects investor demand for more flexible risk management and trading opportunities, adding that similar extended hours for equities are planned for December. Demand for near-24-hour trading has grown alongside crypto exchanges' round-the-clock model. Cboe research found extended-hours options trading averages about 199,000 contracts daily. Still, the NYSE's first day of extended hours was quiet, with less than $100,000 in contracts traded.
