Strategy Expands Buyback Program to $3B After Spending Nine Times More on STRC Than Bitcoin
• Strategy raised preferred securities buyback authorization to $3 billion from $2 billion
• STRC repurchases ($193.1M) nearly 9x the $22.1M spent on Bitcoin that week
• Bitcoin holdings rose to 848,517 BTC after buying 267 more coins
Strategy expanded its Digital Credit Securities Repurchase Program to $3 billion from $2 billion after spending $193.1 million to repurchase 1,938,780 STRC shares between October 12-18 — far exceeding the $22.1 million it spent on Bitcoin that week. The program covers STRC, STRF, STRK and STRD preferred shares (not MSTR common stock) and now has about $1.16 billion remaining. Strategy also bought 267 BTC at an average price of roughly $82,900, bringing total holdings to 848,517 BTC acquired for $64.02 billion ($75,446 per coin average). The purchase was funded by selling 140,872 MSTR shares via its at-the-market program for $22 million plus $100,000 in cash. The STRC buyback was funded entirely from USD Cash; USD Cash and USD Reserve together totaled nearly $5.28 billion as of October 18, with $45.5 million drawn from the Reserve to pay preferred dividends. The new authorization doesn't commit Strategy to further buybacks, but preferred-share repurchases are now consuming far more capital than recent Bitcoin buying.
